I learned to embrace my mistakes
It didn’t take long for the whole community to hear about my asking Rufus for Sauerkraut seeds. They were very gracious; particularly a couple of farmers. Each farmed with a tractor with an open cab and large fenders over the rear wheels. They would invite me to ride on the fenders as they plowed, planted, disked and harvested. Each trip up and down the field offered another opportunity to gently impart to me the varied nuances of farming.
It also provided an opportunity to share a good laugh. They were able to allow me to see the world through their eyes. When I did, I was able to find the humor in my exploits. Sharing a good laugh allowed me to grow, in knowledge and in relationships.
Since then I have made many mistakes, some even more dramatic than asking for Sauerkraut seeds. Each time I am able to grow in knowledge, have a good laugh and deepen relationships – sometimes with friends, most of the time with my spouse and always with my Heavenly Father.

Other Lessons:
I was able to take three things from my experience – embarrassment – of trying to plant Sauerkraut Seeds with me for the rest of my life in ministry.
